Guru, 1966-2010

Groundbreaking MC Guru has died of cancer at age 43. Best remembered for his duo Gang Starr with DJ Premier, and his pioneering album Jazzmatazz, which, along with A Tribe Called Quest’s The Low End Theory and Digable Planets’ Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time and Space), started off the whole 90s jazz-rap craze. Sad news. There have been far too many musician deaths lately.
