According to Variety, TBS just announced that Conan O’Brien will kick off a four night a week 11:00 p.m. show there this November, bumping an apparently quite cooperative George Lopez to midnight. The announcement comes on the day that Conan kicks off his 30-city tour, and while much of the discussion to date has been about Conan and FOX, the network apparently couldn’t overcome the resistance of its affiliates, who stood to lose significant dollars due to pre-existing syndication deals for the likes of Seinfeld reruns. Before Lopez, TBS marked its rising place in the comedy firmament with “Family Guy” reruns. With Conan aboard, will Stewie finally learn the joy of the Masturbating Bear? Will Brian and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog face off in a battle of fictional doggie wit? Stay tuned.
